Tis the Season to be Haunty

September 2, 2018

Ah! September.

For most people, this means...back to school, last minute camping trips, picking apples, or whatever else it is that non-hobbit types do in the fall. (Personally, I like to sit down with a good book and a hot cup of coffee...you know, like I do every day, rain or shine.)

But September also means that we are entering the spooky season. Halloween is only a month (well two months counting the days) away, as is Día de Muertos, The Day of the Dead. Orange and black candy boxes already line the shelves of the supermarkets, and all the best horror movies and books are set to come out in the next 8 weeks.

This is why for the next 4 book reviews, Alex Ganon is ripping apart horror books with his bare hands! In celebration of this heart-stopping time of year. He's already started with reviews of Mr. Blue Sky by John Darke, and Rattus New Yorkus by Hunter Shea for September. Finishing with Red Harvest from Patrick C. Greene, and Perfect Prophet by Diane M. Johnson in October.

But alas, this is a sad time for BHP.

Why, you ask?

Because although autumn is a time for getting the pants scared off you, BHP has yet to receive a single horror manuscript worthy of publication.

So I am putting out the call! To all you gore-loving, ghost-chasing, back-woods squatchin, Samhain obsessed writer's out there. To anyone looking to be the next Stephen King, Anne Rice, or Clive Barker. Get your masterpiece together and send it over to submissions@bearhillbooks.com

We are looking for something that is unique, unsettling, has a bold flavour, and is genuinely scary stuff. And I mean scary. We are pretty hard to keep up at night with the lights on, but if you can, we will take you in a skipped heartbeat!

Zombie Uncle Sam (torn apart by bears of course) wants YOU for the Bear Hill Horror Army!

So get to it!

The Bear Hill Team.
